Yes, let's name our fear, a forceful reaction to the possible unfolding before us and a motivator to continue "to put one foot in front of the other."

As the protest song by Melanie DeMore continues:

"I know you're scared

And I'm scared too

But here I am

Right next to you."

these days we’re all scared, frightened and sad. Here’s a little nothing poem for today.

Would that the world I see is but a dream?

Would that the world I see

is but a dream?

How can it possibly be,

that this happened all over again,

only worse by far?

It makes me want to run and hide.

Nowhere to go,

winter to the soul,

just ice, no warmth, no light.

Left to ourselves, we’re hopeless.

We must find others, to light the way,

Out of this darkness.

There’s got to be a way,

A better way, that must be found,

to find the light that’s lost

in darkness that surrounds us today.

did you write this poem, Len? Perfect for today. We must find others to light the way...yes yes.

I appreciate your righteousness, Kathleen. Trump and his masters and minions will pass, but in the meantime they will inflict grave damage, unless we resist mightily, which I am sure we all will do.

Warm regards,

Michael

Numb. That's how I feel these days. Still unbelieving. Waiting. Waiting to see how the dismantling begins. We must be vigilant. Join a community Perry Bacon says. We need to be ready to respond. Thanks for this powerful writing. Kathleen M

Radical spontaneous acts of kindness and compassion… I can be open to them amidst the terror and unraveling destruction. They give me hope that I can resist in a meaningful way and there may be a path forward. That I must have faith over fear. Thank you, Kathleen and your readers, for expressing what I feel; for making me feel less alone.

Tradition. It is the Sunday of joy. I choose joy over my terror, even as I walk with you this dark path of destruction unfolding. Come look at the SFC solar panels and breathe! A walk soonest…❤️👏

Yes, Judith, feeling fear doesn't mean we obliterate joy. We are capable of holding it all. Actually joy resounds so loudly now in the face of all this shattering! Thanks for the reminder of all there is to hold! Joy in the solar panels you and your team put up on the Church!! and all that is happening that is good inside that Church! yes to a walk soon!

So much wisdom, Kathleen. Thank you! Yes, the Great Shattering and the window for a livable planet is closing. Resistance comes in the form of protest! We are dangerous, we elders. I read that prayer can be simply speaking the alphabet with intention — ABCDEFG. I receive your exquisite essay as a prayer. Today is the first Sunday of Advent, the Sunday we begin the liturgical year in the Christian tr

Brilliant writing. I can only dream of writing half as well. But I've grown old and my writing suffers as body and mind deteriorate and my vocabulary shrinks like the snows of our warming world. I'm often fatigued nowadays, but none of us can afford to surrender to either tyrants or infirmity.

So we won't.

yes Kathleen, I wrote that”little nothing” poem yesterday.

Thanks, as always, for your well crafted thoughts. Some of us have gotten better and wiser with age, even if a little more creaky.

Kathleen this is stunning! The juxtaposition of childhood rhymes and current politics is powerful. I was thinking about Humpty Dumpty the other day and I think many childhood rhymes and stories (Alice in Wonderland) are reflections on politics...see you later this week and looking forward to it!
